Vail Resorts to acquire the ski lifts

30 November 2023

Vail Resorts, the American group that already owns over 40 resorts worldwide, has announced the acquisition of the Crans-Montana ski lifts. The agreement, which was announced on Thursday 30 November 2023, revealed the plan to take over the ski lifts, 11 restaurants, the Giorgio Rocca ski school and the Bouby sports shops in Crans-Montana. No changes in ski pass pricing are expected during the winter 2023-24 season, and day passes and season tickets that have already been purchased will remain valid.

"Crans-Montana is an iconic ski destination in the heart of the Swiss Alps, with a unique heritage, incredible terrain, a passionate team, and a community dedicated to the success of the region," said Kirsten Lynch, Chief Executive Officer of Vail Resorts.

Crans-Montana will therefore be joining one of the largest networks of ski lifts in the world. Vail expects significant growth for Crans-Montana through continued investment and the inclusion of the resort in Epic Pass products, which should ultimately open up new and exciting opportunities for Crans-Montana's clients.

Part of the Epic Pass from the 2024-25 season onwards

The company's industry-leading Epic Pass allows skiers and riders to access the company's resorts at incredible value. Vail Resorts plans to include access to Crans-Montana on certain Epic Pass products from the 2024-25 season onwards, however Crans-Montana Mountain Resort will not be included on the Epic Pass for the 2023-24 season.

Future investment

Vail Resorts is planning to invest approximately CHF 30 million over the next five years to improve the guest experience.
