Skiing in Crans-Montana: a resort that is accessible for all levels

26 February 2026

With its exceptional views, Crans-Montana offers a ski area that provides access to a multitude of experiences. You can learn to ski here, share time together on the slopes and enjoy it whatever your level: families, beginners, carving enthusiasts and thrill seekers will all find what they’re looking for here.

With over 140 kilometres of slopes between altitudes of 1,500 and 3,000 metres, everyone can enjoy this generous playground with a variety of terrain and good connections between areas.

A fluid ski area with good connections

One of the great advantages of the ski area is just how easy it is to access it. Three ski lifts take you directly from the resort to the peaks:

  • Crans-Merbé-Cry d'Er
  • Montana-Arnouva
  • Barzettes-Marolires-Violettes

In just a few minutes, you can go from one area to the next, thanks to slopes which connect the different areas together. We encourage you to take full advantage of how easy it is to navigate around the ski area. If you decide to end your day's skiing at Aminona, the only end of the ski area that does not have ski lifts, you can return to the centre free of charge on a shuttle bus that runs every 20 minutes.

Access and transport

Access to the Crans-Montana ski area is simple and easy, whether you come by public transport or by car. Once you’re here, the free shuttle bus network makes it easy to get around the destination and between the ski lift departure points. Parking and transport arrangements are designed to streamline the arrival of skiers and simplify travel within the resort.

By public transport
Free shuttles provide connections between different bus stops in the resort (including the funicular stop Crans-Montana, gare) and the ski lifts. The stops to reach the ski lifts are:

  • For Crans-Merbé-Cry d'Er: Crans-Montana, Télé Cry d’Er
  • For Montana – Arnouva: Crans-Montana, Ycoor (then take the escalator) or Crans-Montana, Télé Arnouva
  • For Barzettes-Marolires-Violettes: Crans-Montana, Télé Violettes

By car
Several car parks are available in the immediate vicinity of the three ski lifts. Covered and outdoor car parks are available for daily or weekly parking, depending on your needs:

Beginners: a gentle introduction to the slopes

In Crans-Montana, it’s a gentle start when you’re learning to ski. There are several learning areas which are ideal for gaining confidence and balance. Whether you’re starting out on the resort's ‘beginner’ slopes or progressing quickly in the ski area, the local ski schools offer coaching which is tailored to each stage of learning.

The ski area offers several blue runs which are perfectly suited to first downhills. You will find them all over the ski area too, allowing you to enjoy a variety of landscapes and terrain.

Intermediate skiers: improve your skills and have fun

Almost half of the ski area is an ideal playground for intermediate skiers. The red slopes offer long, varied, technical descents, without being too difficult.

It would be hard to miss the iconic Nationale slope, which offers a wide piste, spectacular views and enjoyable skiing over more than 3.5 kilometres. And for even more of a challenge, start at the top of the Bellalui slope, and ski in the tracks of the greatest alpine skiing champions, as this is one of two FIS slopes which will be used for the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in February 2027.

An added bonus: Crans-Montana Resort and its partners offer a range of experiences, including sunrise descents, «First Track» when you open the slopes before everyone else, and many more besides, enabling you to enjoy the slopes in a different way.

Advanced skiers: terrain, thrills and panoramic views

Those who love a challenge will also find plenty to enjoy in Crans-Montana. Several black runs and a number of more challenging routes have character and demand technical skills.

Mont Lachaux and the Col du Pochet offer demanding slopes and spectacular natural terrain. Alternatively, take the funitel to get to the Plaine Morte glacier, perched at 3,000 metres. You can admire the exceptional 360° views from here, from the glacier to the imperial crown of the Alps, and you can enjoy Crans-Montana's very first downhill slope, the Kandahar. In 1911, this 8 km long slope hosted a pioneering alpine skiing competition, «The Earl Roberts of Kandahar Challenge». Its high altitude start guarantees optimal snow conditions and an incomparable high mountain feeling, a breath of fresh air before starting the descent. A treat for body, mind and... your eyes!

Skiing in Crans-Montana is regarded as a complete experience. A ski area that is structured to evolve at each stage: start with confidence, progress gradually and challenge yourself at altitude.

The complementary nature of the sectors, the fluidity of the connections, the diversity of the terrain and relaxing breaks on mountain terraces throughout the day shape a stay where everyone can find their balance, between sport, panoramic views and a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Crans-Montana is more than just a ski area, it offers an evolving playground to accompany each and every skier, season after season.
