Freestyler Aurélien Coubès’ favourites

17 March 2025

Aurélien Coubès, Crans-Montana's young freestyle ambassador, embodies the energy and enthusiasm of a new generation of passionate skiers. Originally from Neuchâtel, his family chose to settle in Crans-Montana as they were attracted by the exceptional diversity in the resort and its ski area, as well as the wealth of its natural landscape.

Since his arrival, Aurélien has fully immersed himself in the world of Crans-Montana. ‘It's a resort where there's something for everyone, whether you want to train, have fun or spend time with the family,’ he says with a smile. His daily routine is made up of training sessions, adventures on and off the slopes, as well as exploring its many culinary offerings.

Follow in Aurélien's footsteps this winter season and explore Crans-Montana through his eyes.

A winter season that’s all about sport

Between competitions, Aurélien spends his days on the slopes in Crans-Montana, a real playground for perfecting his freestyle. Whether he’s skiing the natural jumps in Aminona or in the Crans Snowpark, the young skier always finds a place to push his limits. ‘I love mixing the two environments,’ he explains, as he talks about the complementary nature of these sectors in the ski area.

Out of the many slopes in Crans-Montana, the Za piste remains his favourite. ‘It's fantastic,’ he exclaims enthusiastically. This route, which is both technical and impressive, offers a unique experience for thrill-seeking skiers and freestylers.

But Aurélien is not just content with existing possibilities: he’s also thought about the future of the resort. If he were to propose anything new, it would be a slope that’s put aside entirely for rails and jumps in the Cry d'Er sector. ‘It would be great for freestyle fans,’ he says. At the same time, he’d also like to improve the Snow Park so that it meets Olympic criteria.

Fun beyond the slopes

Aurélien doesn't just see skiing as a sporting discipline. For him, it's also a way of making memories with family and friends. ‘I really like having a meal on the slopes with my family or doing jumps in the park with my mates,’ he explains.

Aurélien loves good food, and never misses an opportunity to sample the great food available in the mountain restaurants. Among his favourite places:

  • Amadeus for its burgers, which he describes as « incredible ».
  • The Cabane des Taules, where he likes to enjoy a traditional raclette after a day on the slopes.
  • And for an original experience, he suggests « a fondue on the slopes with a portable fondue pot ». An idea that reflects his taste for adventure and conviviality!

Away from the slopes, Aurélien also likes to make the most of the many other activities on offer in Crans-Montana. He loves ice skating at the Ycoor ice rink, especially when the ice discos are on. He also loves strolling along the Lantern Path, a magical walk that he highly recommends.
