Ghiorgo Zafiropulo (1909 – 1994) was one of the masters. Modelling with wax before casting his sculptures in bronze, he fixed steps, pirouettes and jumps for eternity, inspired by the greatest dancers of his era. He captured the lightness combined with the power of Nureyev, the grace of Margot Fonteyn and so many others, who through a life of effort and perseverance, moved over the floor and through the air for our pleasure.
This exhibition, through the dynamics imprinted in the work of this artist, illustrates the pertinence and richness of the link between these two forms of artistic expression, sculpture and dance.
