The funicular will be out of service between 7 March and 11 December 2022.
It's time for the funicular that links Sierre to Montana to get a makeover. This major work (which includes complete replacement of the original rails, which date back to 1911) will take 9 months, and starts on 7 March 2022. A completely new installation will operate from 11 December 2022.
During the work, SMC buses serving Crans-Montana will double in frequency. Line 421 will run every half hour. The ticket office at Montana station will remain open, while the one in Sierre will be closed.
